The Dean of Students Office works to create a culture of care by helping students experiencing challenging or difficult life circumstances which might impede academic success. Among the most critical functions of the Dean of Students Office at UWF are assisting students in problem solving, exploring options, and identifying campus and community resources that may assist them with their needs.
The waiver application must be submitted each semester prior to the first day of classes. Requests will not be approved retroactively. All applicants must be a resident of the State of Florida
The Argo Pantry provides food to currently enrolled UWF students in need of assistance.
Care Services provides support to students needing to overcome financial obstacles in order to continue their education at UWF. Students experiencing financial hardship can seek assistance through the emergency grant, emergency loan or the student emergency support fund. Assistance is available as funding permits.
Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers counseling and therapy to help students manage, cope and grow with the stress associated with school and life. The primary goal of counseling is to help students develop the personal awareness and skills necessary to overcome problems and to develop in ways that will allow them to take advantage of educational opportunities at the University.

Loaves and Fishes Soup Kitchen opened its Emergency Family Shelter to house families on a temporary basis in May 1991.We provide one week of emergency shelter for 10 families. We also offer an Extended Stay Shelter Program, in which Emergency Shelter Residents are selected to stay in our shelter for up to 90 days. Loaves and Fishes Emergency Family Shelter Program/Extended Stay Shelter Program includes private rooms, cafeteria style meals, parenting classes, life skills classes, counseling, clothing vouchers, diapers, items for personal hygiene, and referrals to supporting agencies
Catholic Charities helps in emergencies with such basic needs as financial assistance for housing, utilities, prescriptions, and food. Our staff is acutely aware of services provided within our agency and community at large and is knowledgeable about researching new resources that can benefit those in need.
